4 December 2008
Dear Schoolmates,
First, wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Second, the good news is that the school history is completed and has been accepted by the HKU Press for publication (the manuscript submitted on 30 September and acceptance notified on 1 December). If everything goes very smoothly, there is a possibility of the book to be launched in July. In any case, it should be ready by November, just in time for the climax of the 140 Anniversary ¡V School Fete/Dinner.
The book, entitled The Diocesan Boys’ School: 1869 ¡V 2008 and authored by Fung Yee Wang and Chan-Yeung Mo Wah Moira, will be 15 cm. by 23 cm. in size. With 14 chapters, 6 appendices, references and indices (a total of about 120,000 words and 120 illustrations) , it is likely to have about 400 pages.
In the book, except for a few whose names are not available, the names of all teachers, bursars and matrons, together with their years of service, are listed in an appendix. However, the Chinese names of many teachers are not available. I am attaching to this letter the appendix and appeal to all of you for the Chinese names of these teachers. Please forward me any information available to you before the end of the year as a Christmas present to the school.
With warm regards,
Fung Yee Wang (Class 1955)

Dear Members & Old Boys,
I am excited to inform you that this year’s Bauhinia Ball @ W will be held on Saturday, 29th November, 2008. The venue will be @ W Hotel located atop the Kowloon Station in TST.
While the grand opening is in the later part of this month, W is already dubbed to be the most chic hotel in Hong Kong with its bold colours and nature theme. With the special entertainment gigs and events we have put together, the Ball is going to be great fun this year. Also, the dress code this year will be less formal than before so that you can feel more relaxed and chic while you mingle and reconnect with DBS alumni and friends.
Attached is the Reservation form for the Bauhinia Ball @ W. In addition, you will also find the Cash and Lucky Draw Donation forms, and the Advertisement forms. The advertisements will go into our special Ball booklet which captures the various OBA’s activities in the past year.
The Annual Ball is an important annual fund-raising event for both DSOBA and DBS. Please support your school and the Association generously.
If you have any questions or need more information on the details, please email or call Amy Au Yeung of DSOBA at 2713 5268, amy@dsoba.org. I look forward to a fun night with you all.
Best,
Jose Cheng (Class of 1984)
