The DSOBA Dinner Talk by Mr Thomas Chow Wai Tong (’54) was held on 15 October 2008 at the Chinese Club, Central.

The Theme of this Dinner Talk was ‘The Undercovered Stories’ of DBS from the time of the Second World War till the end of the 1960’s. 41 people including the Old Boys and Guests attended the event. With the very lively and interesting sharing by Mr Tong, the whole atmosphere was full of joy and happiness.

Mr Tong illustrated the Stories of our Past Headmasters including Mr Goodban, Rev She, Mr Lowcock and Sir Oswald Cheung. Also, the lives of our students including Day Boys and Borders were fully described.

As the M.C. of the event, I gave Mr Tong a very welcoming introduction and mastered the session for Q & A. Many Old Boys were very aggressive to ask Mr Tong questions about the past life of DBS Students, the past DBS Headmasters and the period when Dr Sun Yet-sen was studying in our School.

Hereby, I would like to thank Mr Tong for spending so much of his precious time to prepare and share this Talk with us, DSOBA President Mr Desmond Yip(’82) for presenting the souvenir, Mr Steve Chan(’75) for taking the Photos, our Secretary Amy & other members of staff for arranging the venue and attendance list and everyone who has participated in this event.

Prizes must be collected at DSOBA, 131 Argyle Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong on any working day (Mon-Fri 10:00am to 12:39pm & 2:30pm to 5:00pm) before Jan 16, 2009 upon presenting the winning ticket. Failure to do so will constitute forfeiture.

Dear Members & Old Boys, 

 

I am excited to inform you that this year’s Bauhinia Ball @ W will be held on Saturday, 29th November, 2008. The venue will be @ W Hotel located atop the Kowloon Station in TST.

 

While the grand opening is in the later part of this month, W is already dubbed to be the most chic hotel in Hong Kong with its bold colours and nature theme. With the special entertainment gigs and events we have put together, the Ball is going to be great fun this year. Also, the dress code this year will be less formal than before so that you can feel more relaxed and chic while you mingle and reconnect with DBS alumni and friends.

DSOBA GAMES DAY REPORT 

The DSOBA Games Day was held on 28 September 2008, in the School Field of our DBS. It was another very sunny and warm day providing a very good weather for the event to take place.

There were 137 participants, 25 DBS students and other staff to join this event. There were seven major events with a few heats in each event.

Before the start of the game, our DSOBA Vice-President, Myron Ng (’88), gave a sharing to emphasize the importance of leading a Healthy Lifestyle.

Once again, the Highlight went to the last event, 1 Lap Run, with participants from different age groups.

The participants showed out to be very enjoyable in this Family Sports Event and we have to thank our DBS Headmaster, Mr. Terence Chang, for allowing us to use the School Field, DBS Athletics Club and Teacher Cheng Pun for helping to organize the event, Frank Ho (’88) for being the M.C., Daniel Ma (’76) for taking the photos, DBS Timing Squad, Tuck Shop, David Lau (’88), Jesmer Wong (’89) and Vice-President Myron Ng (’88) as the helpers, DSOBA President Desmond Yip (’82), DBS Athletic Club Chairman Willie Kung (’77) and William Hill (’64) as our Guests for Medal Presentation to the Winners of the events.

We would like to see you all in the same event next year and carrying on supporting DSOBA ’s Activities.

Dear Fellow Old Boys, 

If you would like to find out more about overseas education for your children, please come along with them to our “University Day” which will be held at 2:30p.m. on 4th October 2008 at the School Hall.

These old boys are graduates from some of the most prestigious schools in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and United States including Macquarie University, University of British Columbia, Oxford University, UC Berkeley, Harvard University, MIT, Princeton University and Stanford University.  Please don’t miss this rare opportunity to obtain first hand career advice and tips on the whole application process from them.   

DSOBA believes that the “University Day”, with significant contribution from the Headmaster, the Careers Office, the Student Council, and many other parties, will provide your children with some very helpful information and advice in their preparation for university life abroad and future career planning.
